アメリカでは今、この映画が今敏監督の『パーフェクト・ブルー』の影響を大きく受けていると言われています。

『パーフェクト・ブルー』はアメリカではよく観られている映画なので、多くの映画ジャーナリストが類似性を指摘し、監督のダレン・アロノフスキーに直接それを問い質してもいます。しかしアロノフスキーは『パーフェクト・ブルー』との関係を否定しています。

ところが、実は彼は2001年に来日して今敏監督に直接会って、『パーフェクト・ブルー』に強い影響を受け、特定のシーンを引用したと言って事後承諾をもらっています。↓

アロノフスキーが引用した場面とは、彼の監督作「レクイエム・フォー・ドリーム」（00年）で麻薬の金欲しさに売人に抱かれたジェニファー・コネリーが風呂で絶叫する場面で、これは、今敏監督「パーフェクト・ブルー」（97年）で、レイプ場面を演じた元アイドルが風呂で絶叫する場面の引用だったと告白しています。
